Job Description:
Under the direction of management, the Client Manager coordinates the financial activities associated with the placement and service of employee benefits for Willis Clients. This mid-level position is primarily client facing and leverages established competencies related to underwriting and financial reporting, employee benefits insurance services, plan design and administration to best service Willis clients.
Coordinate and manage financial aspects of the placement and service of employee benefits for Willis Clients including but not limited to:
Comply with Willis Excellence Model (WEM) program
Prepare financial aspects of benefit planning, including but not limited to, funding arrangements, plan design, competitive benchmarking, and employee contribution modeling, profit and loss statements
Understand and can articulate high level recommendations on cost controls measures and potential impacts
Recognize and support execution of client financial strategy
Maintain annual renewal reports, quarterly reports, and benefit survey
Support communication efforts to clients (stewardship meetings, etc.) relative to financial issues
Coordinates Renewal/Marketing Process including but limited to:
Pre-renewal analysis and gathering of pertinent underwriting information for account specific projects.
Prepares exhibits and illustrations used to develop various financial strategies for employer groups.
Prepare RFP and send to carriers
Request renewals and plan alternatives from carriers
Prepare proposal data into Willis' format for presentation to clients making recommendations
Validates renewals/proposals for accuracy
Reviews completed proposals and negotiates with carriers
Develops and maintains client specific models to assist in the economic analysis of market alternatives.
Prepares the prospective renewal report and supports the new business and renewal quoting process for the team.
Provide monthly reporting of client and carrier information
Use Willis technology (such as, Willis Med) to monitor / analyze claims information and financial impact
Creates client reports using Willis Med advanced capabilities
Maintain and cultivate relationships with Manager- and Director-level personnel (Director-HR, etc.)
Support client retention ratio at or above the WNA Employee Benefits average
Maintain and cultivate strong carrier relationships to enhance Willis position in the market place
Understand and can articulate to clients the Willis EB Value Proposition and EB Products and Services in order to support new business
Understand client's needs and can identify products and services to support needs
Assist in the sales process (RFP and proposal development, presentation, etc.)
Mentor Financial Client Service Managers and Assistant Client Service Managers
All other duties and project work as assigned
Skills /Qualification:
Intermediate Knowledge of: (1) insurance products, (2) bid preparation and analysis, and (3) problem claim resolution (4) underwriting/financial analysis to specifically include the following:
HMO, PPO, and Indemnity forms of Health, Dental, and Vision plans
Consumer-driven healthcare, wellness, disease management, and current trends
Regulatory environment of employee benefits plans
Life (term, permanent, etc.), LTD, STD, and state-required disability plans
Advanced knowledge in at least 2 specialty areas
Analytic, math and problem solving skills
Must be organized and detail oriented
Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as presentation skills
Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives with limited supervision
Computer skills which include proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point, as well as navigation within the Internet
Intermediate Database application skills
Takes responsibility for own and others development needs
College degree preferred
Years of Experience
Ten or more years of insurance industry or comparable experience
Five or more years of analytical work related to employee benefit programs preferred
Five or more years underwriting
Professional Designations
Insurance degree a plus
RHU, CLU, CPA, FSA, ASA, EA, CEBS or equivalent required
Size and Complexity of AccountsComplex and diversified book
