Commodity Buyer


Summary:

The primary purpose of the Commodity Buyer is to coordinate the implementation of savings projects by strategically identifying / performing critical thinking for long term strategic sourcing solutions. Will identify supply risks or market trends and perform negotiation / strategy tactics to secure sustainable sources for future development projects. Will play an important role in define and execute a purchasing strategy for the commodity (resins / chemicals) he/she is responsible. Ensure best pricing, quality and delivery performance on a supplier with a long-term business relationship. Negotiation of best sourcing option, follow the commodity strategy and keep good and productive teamwork with the cross functional team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:

  • Address supplier gaps that affect future development products
  • Manage and coordinate supplier changes for strategic sourcing or distressed suppliers
  • Supporting Commodity Buyers with development of commodity strategy formulation and execution
  • Responsible for cost reduction initiatives and support of PPV report
  • Communicate and coordinate supplier issues with MAHLE Purchasing Team
  • Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates per the commodity
  • Position includes up to 25% domestic and international travel
  • Have at all times updated and accurate information in JIRA and Jaggaer / SAP systems


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or equivalent degree from a four-year college or university required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant purchasing experience or equivalent role, preferably in the automotive industry; preferably 5 or more years.
  • Experience managing polyolefin resin and chemical spend; experience interacting with injection molding buyers, engineering resins buyer, and resin global lead buyers.
  • Excellent written / verbal communication skills, including presentation delivery, with demonstrated experience with supplier relationships, in-depth knowledge of contract negotiations and product development.
  • Specialized skills in negotiation, financial cost analysis and market analysis Ability to read blueprints and specifications required
  • Strong time and project management, problem solving and continuous improvement skills
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (stamping, injection molding, casting)
  • Focus on deadlines and target objectives
  • Strong team player, ability to coordinate cross-functional teams
  • Strong aptitude in Microsoft Office applications, such as Microsoft Excel required
  • SAP experience strongly preferred
  • Up to 25% International and domestic travel by plane and car required
  • Define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract / concrete variables.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
