POSITION
Summary:
Metals / Materials Engineer responsibilities at Nissan include:
Deal with metal materials such as steel sheet, long steel, Aluminum sheet, cast Aluminum, stainless steel, and other metal materials used for automobiles in order to achieve company KPI's (Quality, Cost, Schedule).
Coordination with Suppliers, Manufacturing Plants, Design Engineers and Purchasing.
Present Innovative ideas to Management which contribute to vehicle quality improvement, cost reduction or weight reduction.
JOB DUTIES:
Developing new metal materials for cost/mass reduction.
Manage Workload ,set priorities, self direct, to meet schedules.
Create Cost Reduction ideas ,Manage, evaluate feasibility, Conduct testing, and Direct Manufacturing till Implementation of the concept.
Communicate with counterparts in Japan and Mexico and local Design groups.
Strong Cross functional ability to work with all Departments.
Conduct failure analysis on development tests and field failures.
Conduct Material Qualifications and Facility Audits.
Establish test plans, perform or direct testing using in-house or out-sourced resources, write technical reports to communicate the progress or evaluation judgment.
Identify and define problems, collect data and draw valid conclusions.
Research US local material technologies and create new product specification.
Domestic and International travel as required.
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
BS degree in Mechanical, or Materials Engineering.
Steel, Aluminum or any metals experience desirable, including testing methods and equipment, production process control, metallurgical alloy design etc.
Automotive related experience a plus.
High Motivation and capacity to work on multiple projects .
Excellent communication/interpersonal skills required; Experience working in a multicultural environment desired.
PC skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other technical software).
Ability to travel and work overtime may be required.
