Department Marketing Statement
Due to growth in new business, Roush is looking for additional Injection Mold Tooling Engineers/Tooling Program Leaders who will be responsible for managing all facets of the mold construction process, including: cost estimating, feasibility, project planning and reporting, customer liaison, reviewing and facilitating design, and the manufacture and validation of injection mold tooling to meet customer standards. The Injection Mold Tooling Engineers/Tooling Program Leaders are located at our Farmington, MI facility.
Responsibilities
Interact with Roush account management to ensure timely and accurate delivery of cost estimates for new tooling and engineering changes. Provides technical assistance to the sales group where applicable.
Proactively lead project feasibility activities internally/externally to ensure product and tool designs are optimized. Working with the customer bringing to closure to all feasibility and design issues.
Act as project leader to ensure robust planning, tracking and reporting of all critical project activities.
Ensure that projects are efficiently managed and meet or exceed all timing, quality and budgetary expectations.
Injection Mold Tooling Engineers/Tooling Program Leaders attend injection mold tryouts to insure tooling meets the customer standards. Documenting all issues, performing root cause analysis and driving all open issues to resolution.
Report on all critical project issues regularly to department management and to the customer.
Bring an entrepreneurial work ethic and proactively engage in continuous improvement efforts that foster an ever increasing competitive advantage in the mold construction and departmental business processes.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Journeyman Mold Maker, Mold Designer or equivalent with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the injection mold making industry or a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5 years of experience.
Possess a thorough understanding of every aspect of the mold manufacturing process: reading and interpreting customer mold standards/expectations, facilitating and leading mold design process, and design reviews.
Previous experience planning, directing and following manufacturing activities such as: machining operations, assembly operations and mold functional validation events.
Capable of leading engineering feasibility events to ensure that all critical product design issues are identified and resolved for optimizing mold design, manufacturability, and process capability.
Highly organized and efficient in developing and reporting project critical elements (i.e. open issues, project timing plans, budget variances, etc.) to management, internal and customer teams.
Injection Mold Tooling Engineers/Tooling Program Leaders must be willing to travel up to 25% throughout North America and overseas.
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and Power Point.
